Newest Addition to the Collective Crystal Collection

Good day fellow Maze fans,

It's a very exciting day at Superfan HQ today, as we take delivery of another authentic TV crystal, one that was formerly a gap in our collective collection of crystals. The crystal is from the revived series and is one of the crystals from the podium in front of the dome. These are different from the crystals played for in the games only due to the lack of logo from the base, as this would have affected the light shining through it from the podium.

Personally, in terms of size, the game crystals are my favourite. Compared to the Live Experience size and the Mega Crystal size, the game crystal is the "Goldilocks" of the three when it comes to size, weight and practicality. The LE crystal can be underwhelming when you're so used to the ones used in the TV series. Also, the LE is first and foremost a business and with the amount of wear and tear their crystals go through (teams dropping them, maze masters running around with a bag full of them rubbing together) the smaller size is undoubtedly a financially suitable compromise. It is however able to fit in almost any pocket, essential in some challenges.
While the Mega Crystal size, certainly looks impressive, good luck finding a pocket to fit it in. Also, if you were a maze master carrying a bag full of these around, painkillers on standby for the back pain.

Across the classic and revived series, the only crystals we're missing between us is the Mega Crystal and the prize crystal from the revived series. A couple of us (myself included) own the LE crowdfunding one, which is the same size as the TV Mega Crystal. The only difference is that the TV Mega Crystal has the Crystal Maze logo on the base, whereas the crowdfunding one has "I built the Crystal Maze" engraved on it. I'm fairly confident we'll be able to source one, as long as the Mega Crystal continues to be a "new and exciting format point"

There was an additional benefit to aquiring this crystal. The crystal was kindly sold to me by Charlotte Cooper, a script researcher from the 19/20 series. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, production on new TV shows has effectively ground to a halt. Regrettably, herself and about 90% of TV freelancers have been out of work, receiving no help from the government. Naturally, I though it was only fitting to provide a very generous offer, given that she had a direct hand in bringing another series of my favourite TV show back to my screen.
