The US Marketing Begins

With under two weeks to go until TCM starts in the States on Nickelodeon, the marketing push has begun.

Today Nickelodeon put this out on Twitter as a brief introduction to the world and format of TCM.

We knew it would be a $25k top prize rather than the underwhelming rewards that are part and parcel of the UK show but the video explains how this prize is earned. Every gold token is worth $100 (that's some pricey Mylar), and we can assume silvers are -$100, so a minus score should mean they go home with nothing. Also, whilst the current UK rules mean you get nothing scoring 49 or less, I'd assume that even a gold total of +1 we still see them get $100.

There's also been a couple of interviews with @Adamconover explaining the show to US media and with any luck there may be more to come. One was with cheddar.com and the other below with KTLA 5

  1. As far as the press preview which apparently will be put on youtube sometime this week there is no silver's involved. i def tried to pause as many times i could to see but it is hard to tell. The clock graphic i'm hoping is the one they are using as it looks so much smarter than ours. i'm also hoping the theme is a full 1 minute variation rather than 30secs as it means it would be looped when a 40-55 sec run is done. That's if there are 10 games and the mega crystal which i'm sure is being adapted.

    1. I'm pretty sure there is going to be silver tokens as, let's be honest, it would horribly break the end game if they weren't there. In addition, Adam has mentioned silver tokens in one of above interviews.

I'm rather curious to hear Ryan Lofty's version of the Underscore.

Would it be incorrect to say, in regards to the tests, that music during them was an idea taken from Fort Boyard? I know they've technically been doing that since the start with the Topkapi test, though it was done for all tests since 2003 in France.
