Possible Hosts for Nickelodeon's Crystal Maze, From Someone Who Hasn't Watched Nickelodeon in Well Over 15 Years

There's going to be more than a hint of guesswork here as I haven't actively watched Nickelodeon in the UK in a very, very long time. I've no idea who's a current presenter on 99% of the UK network, never mind the US channel making the show, so I apologize beforehand for being ill-informed and just generally wrong and old.

My memories of Nickelodeon are mostly just 'Kenan and Kel', Nicktoons and really lazy efforts at gunging, or the preferred word in America - "Sliming". I'm sorry but in most cases, a Nickelodeon sliming isn't a patch on the gunging that plagued British TV in the 90's. Ok, some of the US stuff was impressive in scale and delivery but often was watery, and always green. Whereas shows over here were a bit more creative. For example, what's black, white, and red all over? Piers Morgan

Getting back to the topic at hand: Nickelodeon hosts.

John Cena

I'm a wrestling fan, so this one hasn't escaped me. Cena's mostly moved onto more mainstream work, which should see 100% less broken noses (Hi Seth) and is currently the host of 'Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?' where he savours his intro reminding us they're playing for Nickelodeon's highest ever prize of $100,000, occasionally asking a question or two. I can see him working as a mazemaster, he'd get physical, he'd climb walls and crawl through tunnels and he's got a personality that resonates with kids. Only question is, would he fully indulge in the low level of acting that comes with the show when done right.

Kel Mitchell

I'm already struggling for names here but there is an ounce of logic to this one. Beyond him being the orange soda inhaling Kel of 'Kenan and Kel', 'The Crystal Maze' is a show based around time travel, so why not have someone from Nickelodeon's past in charge. He's done less wacky acting such as his role as Invisible Boy in 'Mystery Men' which was *Googles*.... a while ago, admittedly, but he's a known face for the channel, so why not. Most recently seen in 'Game Shakers' created by Dan Schneider, the same producer behind K&K, he's not unfamiliar to current audiences.

Liza Koshy

OK, I'm into uncharted territory here. I'm working purely from looking at who works for the network now, and I'm feeling very, very old. However Koshy currently hosts a show I'm not 100% unaware of. 'Double Dare' is one of a few shows that made their way over to the UK way back when. Hosted by Peter Simon over here, it turned into 'Run The Risk' and was made far gungier.
Koshy got her start posting videos on Vine then became the fastest YouTuber at the time to reach 10 million subscribers so people of a certain age must like her work.

Right, that's the ball rolling, now comment below who else could do it. I need your idea's because I haven't a clue. Don't just go with Nick hosts, anyone at all you think would be a good idea, stick their name in the comments below.

  1. There is a small margain that they could just get Richard Ayoade to host the US edition. however problems may occur if they decide to build their own maze next year due to the success.

  2. Had a suggestion on Reddit of Craig Ferguson. Good idea, Brit with an established American audience
